outdoor lighting
i spent this weekend working on some outdoor lighting ideas for an online magazine so i thought… why not take a short break from england to talk about a few fun balcony lighting ideas. also, a quick thank you to my mom for letting me use her balcony and helping me create what you see below!outdoor 7

for these cute, delicate candle holders i took some cloth doilies, dipped them in sugar starch, then placed them over balloons to dry. once dry, i popped the balloons and they were ready for a candle and made the sweetest decoration scattered out and around the balcony.

this is a fun and different idea to add some ambient lighting to any balcony’s table. to create this look i took a bit of chicken wire and made a cylinder-like shape with it. i then stuffed some twinkle lights within and hung it over the center of the table. i think it’s such an easy and affordable alternative to an outdoor chandelier.

for this look: i took a string of larger bulb lights and assorted them within a funky vase to create an unexpected table centerpiece. it gives a decorative touch to the area as a whole while adding extra light to the entire space as well.

have you ever been to the longleat house and safari? it’s somewhere between salisbury and bath and is a fun place to visit especially when traveling with family like we are. besides the huge funky house, they have a safari and other various things to do including a bunch of large playgrounds. these kids thought it would be hilarious if i went down this teeny zip-line at one of them so i eventually gave in, became a kid myself, and climbed aboard.

we are heading up to york tomorrow for the next three days and then back down to london. more soon!

and p.s. it’s our anniversary

we have spent the past few days in salisbury and the city of bath seeing ancient cathedrals, stonehenge, and the roman baths. the city of bath is my current favorite. tomorrow we are visiting the windsor castle. also, on a funny side note, we were reminded tonight that it was our four year anniversary today … we are both obviously terrible at remembering these kind of things. love you camden!

we’ve been doing a lot of running around lately getting a few last minute things for our england trip next week. those things we’d only remember we still needed to get or do just a few days before we leave like buying an adapter kit so our electronics will work in the u.k. or remembering we need to find someone to watch our home … things like this. it has been a bit busy around here and busy it will be for the next few days but something tells me all this crazy will be paying off here very soon.

i know we will at least be traveling to london, york, salisbury, and scunthorpe so if any of you live or have spent time in these cities and know amazing places, shopping, restaurants, or things to do we would love to hear about them!  p.s. i have been really behind on emails so if i haven’t replied to yours yet, i will … i promise!

*for those who have asked about scunthorpe, we are just taking a quick visit to say hello to some relatives.
