i love everything about daylight savings … except for that little part where i’ve been miserably tired this entire week. i love that our bedroom doesn’t look like heaven (it was way too bright) at 6:00 in the morning. i love that when i’m driving home from work i remember i still get a few precious hours of light instead of receiving that eye-blinding sun that comes with the pending doom of thirty minutes ’til dusk. i love that this means the beginning of a soon to be spring and an “adiós winter, see you next year” … brighter days. yes, i am fond of you, daylight savings … if only i weren’t so tired, i might enjoy you more.

i surprised camden with a little overnight trip to midway and park city over the weekend for his birthday that is coming up in a few weeks. it has been so long since we’ve had any time to get away (even just for a night) and we both were in serious need. we spent the night and first morning in midway, a cute little town inspired by switzerland, a few miles outside of park city. we had an amazing brunch, fed the horses and even spotted a few deer. we then drove up to park city for the rest of the afternoon to do some shopping and to walk up and down main street. i seriously love main street in park city. it has this way of making me feel like we’re miles away when we’re really just a short drive from home. we have already been planning our next trip back (next time we want to swim in the crater at the homestead in midway). i love you camden, happy early birthday!

for our weekend brunch we devoured what we call german pancakes. we dusted them with powdered sugar and topped them with fresh red berries, drizzled with “real” maple syrup. if i’m honest, i’m sort of a snob when it comes to maple syrup. i will only eat the “real” good stuff.

instead of i love lucy this week, i finally got camden to watch the sound of music with me. this, oddly enough, has become a goal of mine, starting around when we first got married. until yesterday he had always refused. it had almost become sort of a joke between us, the movie that was always suggested to be watched and always never watched… this weekend he finally gave in.

not snow, rain. i can’t remember the last time it was warm enough to rain. yesterday it got up to a scorching fifty degrees. fifty degrees! we couldn’t help but spend the entire morning outside. camden and i got belgian waffles and ate them outside in the sun. we took kramer to the park and let him run around and play. we walked camden to work instead of driving. it was brilliant. -and i wasn’t even mad that the sun wasn’t out at all today, because it was raining, raining! it put us in such a good mood we had a spontaneous date night tonight, dinner and a movie. it was brilliant i tell you, over the moon kind of brilliant.
