**kantha quilt: a type of embroidery used most commonly by women in bengal to stitch together old saris and cloth to make a light quilt.
sundays are my favorite day to nap (though i will find any excuse to any day) especially with our kantha quilt. camden really hates napping, well he dislikes doing anything that he considers to be lazy but i sometimes take drastic measures and force him to relax even if it’s just for a minute. kramer would rather we didn’t though, nap i mean. he is a professional nap destroyer and face sleeping investigator. sometimes i’ll wake up to a kramer face only a few inches away from mine as if to say “please open your eyes, oh please oh please!”. the initial eye opening is of course followed with a whole bunch of kramer kisses. oh but aren’t sundays just the best?

i must warn you that once you taste this decadent warm fudge there will be no going back to that store bought gunk, and let me just tell you after that first spoonful of chocolatey gloriousness, you will see what i mean by “gunk”. i’m just throwing this out there but this warm, gooey, hot fudge may change your outlook on life forever, among a few other things. yes, it is that good! -as a child growing up, my grandmother would make this very hot fudge for us every sunday to put on top of our breyers vanilla ice cream (oh and how it had to be breyers!). as you might have guessed, i too have yet to ever be the same. you have been warned! –p.s. put the fudge in a mason jar, tie a bow and you have yourself a wonderfully simple present 🙂
a simple present
for the hot fudge you will need:
2 cups – sugar
4 tablespoons – cocoa powder, unsweetened
dash of salt
one 8oz can (or 1 cup) – evaporated milk
4 tablespoons – butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon – vanilla extract

combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium saucepan and stir until combined. add the evaporated milk and butter and stir frequently over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil. let boil on medium heat for two minutes without stirring, then remove from heat and add the vanilla extract. stir. let cool slightly and serve over ice-cream. you can store the extra in fridge for up to a week.

we are celebrating valentine’s day today on account that camden has to work late tomorrow and got done at seven tonight. we don’t have anything elaborate planned. in fact we will probably end up making a quaint dinner at home followed up by either an old audrey hepburn movie (maybe funny face?) or, if we’re lucky, a movie night out (movie recommendations???). who knows, maybe we’ll wind up eating out at hires for hamburgers too. – i’m always on the fence about this so called valentine’s day, i’ve never figured out if i like it or hate it. everyone seems to either have a hate or love relationship with the day, i find you either can’t imagine your life without it, or you despise it to the depth of your core. i find myself resting somewhere in the middle. i could go without it but i’ll take any excuse to go to the movies!

our brunch this week consisted of delicious baked eggs in ramekins as well as one of my all-time favorite things from childhood, english muffin toast with butter and jam. i saw these baked eggs on pinterest a little bit ago and couldn’t stop thinking about them all week (that pinterest sure is a dangerous place). ours didn’t turn out nearly as beautiful but they tasted wonderful nonetheless. click here for the recipe if you would like to try them too! hope you all had great weekends . . .
