our fourth went a little something like this ::
local diners, walks, fireworks, cup of noodles, key-lime pie,
paris when it sizzles, root-beer & limeades, flowers, naps, family,
spiderman, audrey hepburn, sun, car rides,
and fun, lots of fun.

we say ::
yay for holidays and $0.28 lunches and sleep-in days and family time
and for giggles and sarcasm and for doggies and husbands and sisters
and mothers, and grandmothers, and the good old US of A,
and for doing nothing and everything all in one day
and being able to enjoy it.
we say yay for you!

Miscellaneous

i used to be scared of these kind of stores, clothes covered in moth balls and weird diseases, that kind of stuff, until i went in to one not too long ago. the amount of treasures were endless. you did have to do some digging through some junk to find them but there, amongst everything else, were beautiful things just begging to be loved again.
sunday i was dying to go to a flea market. i had the vintage blues and was longing to find some good stuff. i searched for some flea markets online and found several. after a bit of convincing, on camden’s part, we made the trek out to the most promising one.
the first one was about a 45 minute drive from our house and turned out to be a complete bust. we arrived to an empty lot totally deserted except for a few semi trucks for who knows what. i thought for sure this must be some sort of crazy mistake. we called the number listed on the site only to get a “we’re sorry. the number you are trying to dial is no longer in service. please hang up and try again.” i wasn’t ready to give up, so search again we did.
second time around, i tried a new website. luckily, i found one five minutes away from the location we were currently at and this one looked even more promising that the last – goody goody gum drops! we arrived only to find another empty lot. ‘how could this be, was this someones idea of a cruel joke?’ i re-examined the website to find that july 1st was not an actual listed date for this flea market and the next date was actually july 8th, oops. slightly discouraged i searched online for a flea market just this one last time and found one in a location i was a little a lot unsure about. – but we i couldn’t give up just yet, after all our trouble.
round three and 20 minutes later, we arrived at the third location and found what seemed to be a flea market. now 100 degrees outside, i hoped it would be good. sadly it would have been better for an empty lot to have found us again, for what we did find was a terrible excuse for a flea market. sitting in big mounds, at almost every booth, were grungy, slightly used and broken things and quite possibly stolen items instead of the beautiful vintage ones i was hoping to find. camden not wanting to leave as quickly as i did (we did in fact pay a whole dollar each to get in), we decided to drag our feet a little longer, along the dirt paths in the blazing heat of the day. sadly, if you can believe it, it only got more sketchy and scary as we went along. after walking through all the rows, we practically ran out of this so called flea market. never again my friends, never again.
what a bust. i needed something comforting and needed it quick. i was about to have a flea market heart attack! after stoping off at whole foods for a bit of gelato (mmmm gelato . . ), we stopped in at savers and bought all the vintage lovelies in sight, really splurged i mean. it cost me a whole $12.95 and even better i had quite a lot to show for it too.
thank you savers for “saving” my life!

some days seem hard, struggles and daily grinds get in the way, and i find myself forgetting about the what or really the who that makes me happy in my life. when i think about it, these little petty things that have absorbed my day completely, don’t matter at all in the end.
this little song has brought me back down to life lately and has reminded me it doesn’t matter so much where my home is but more who my home is. it doesn’t matter where, or what, or why we live wherever we do or decide to, as long as i have this beautiful little family by my side.
i have loved this little song lately :: enjoy it if you like ::
(i sort of wish i could live in this video)

i wish it was our anniversary everyday just so we could eat at tiburon daily. it’s five courses of heaven (i totally spaced the picture of dessert, creme brulee, it was so good i couldn’t stop before we devoured it all). starting with the best appetizer man has created, braised pork with brie cheese and caramelized onions (sorry if i’m making you hungry, i’m making me hungry!).
it was so fun to get out and enjoy the night. the entire week before i had been so sick and the ten fires surrounding our little valley was not helping matters either. because of being sick and the thick as jell-o smoke coating the air, it has been a while since we have gone anywhere for a little date night, let’s just say i was extremely excited to do so.
and movies, well that is a whole different matter. being that our front yard is a movie theater you would think that meant we have seen everything there was to see from top to bottom and in between. a year ago that may have been the case, however, lately it has been a rare occasion that we sneak out for a movie night and to be honest i wasn’t even sure what was playing. seeking a friend for the end of the world was actually a movie i had been wanting to see, mostly because keira knightley and steve carrell in a movie together? i was intrigued! – and also because it looked, well for lack of a better term “cute”.
although i really loved the movie and would recommend it to anyone and everyone, i’m not sure i would want or will ever see it again. i am a total sucker for happy endings, and while not wanting to give away the ending, the ending was, well. . . sad.
all in all, we both had a wonderful night. thanks again camden!
the braised pork with brie and caramelized onions (fyi. the picture does not do it justice)
the most delicious salad with fresh apples and candied nuts

raspberry and lemon sorbet to cleanse the pallet

ahi tuna with the best candied squash my taste-buds have had the privilege of tasting
where the picture of dessert would have gone if i hadn’t spaced on a picture

. . . to you . . .
