buying a house to call home

Miscellaneous

We have officially decided {for about the 5th time} to buy a house. In the past, every time we think we are ready, something happens to change our mind and put our search off. Well, we have decided that it is time we move closer to our work and say goodbye to the 30+ minute drive we both do twice daily.

Our largest problem in buying a home seemed to be our over the top wish list. It consisted of good location {of course}, then there was wood floors, fire place, curb appeal, no wood paneling, safe and stable, good layout, recently updated or easily updated kitchen, back yard, a two car garage, at least 3 bedrooms/two baths, oh yeah and at least 2000 sq. feet. When we first started looking I thought sure, yeah, we can find that with our smallish budget and largish expectations, but quickly realized that our dream home may be a bit out of reach. So what, maybe we will have to make some compromises along the way, maybe give up a few of the things on our wish list, and maybe even find something that could use a bit of work and fixing up. We realized it will all be okay as long as our little family can live there together and we can make it ours along the way. So bring on the shag carpet and paneled walls, I’m ready{I hope!}.
Any advice is welcome!
