thursday we were searching for an apartment and stumbled upon a little brick building with beautiful overgrown vines stretching up the sides, and funky old windows opening up to a miniature lookout to the city. it was something you would picture on the streets of paris or in madeline. on the side of the building there was a little sign that said for rent so we decided to peek inside. the stairs of the hallways were covered in antique colored turquoise tiles and at the ends of them were giant vintage armoires. all the doors had vintage knockers and crystal chandeliers hung from the ceilings. it just so happened that one of the apartments was available to see and i suddenly got nervous that the units themselves would not be so full of character as the rest of the building seemed to be. as soon as that door opened i was relieved, more than relieved, i was shocked and overjoyed. the entire apartment was covered wall to wall with wood floors and top to bottom with old moldings and white walls. the rooms were oversized and the quirky windows were even more charming on the inside. in the dinning room, yes it had its own separate dinning room, hung the coolest antique crystal chandelier and had more of those fun little windows surrounding letting in plenty of light. the place was magnificent in size and loveliness. the only downsides was the lack of air-conditioning and the slightly outdated and smaller kitchen, but honestly i didn’t care, i was in love. oh and did i mention, this entire apartment, that is at minimum 1400 square feet, came with the pretty little price of $950.00 per month? seriously it is perfect. here comes the difficult part though. we need to move out of our current space by the end of this month, and a unit won’t be available in the little french chateau, hidden in the middle of the city, until probably the end of october. what we will do? i don’t know. all i do know is that this space is perfect and one way or another our little family is destined to live there and i’m determined to make it happen. fingers and toes crossed everybody!

saturday night we, meaning i, came up with this crazy idea that we needed to build a fort in our living room, because apparently i’m still five. a “severe” thunderstorm was rolling in and it sounded so cozy and fun, because like i said, i’m still five. being the good sport he is, camden even agreed to run to the store to grab some much needed snacks for our little hideout. – and boy did he score! he got us: crackers and cheese, grapes and donuts, muffins and gelato, the really good stuff. we watched idiana jones and the temple of doom while we pigged on our gourmet feast. by the way, the lady in this idiana jones drives me nuts, something about her voice, i don’t know. anyway, we put a blow up mattress right in the center of our fort and decided we would sleep on it since it was pilled high with blankets and pillows. kramer always gets a little unsure and nervous when his house starts changing on him like this but once he realized how cozy it was, he warmed up to it real quick. especially when he saw the smorgasbord of treats inside. doggies just can’t resist these things. it was so nice, we might just leave it up and sleep here one more night, just because we’re crazy like that.
