i am currently sitting outside on our balcony for the first time this year. it has been one of those days that you just can’t wait to end. i am ashamed to say that the curator of much of my pathetic misery today has been caused by a canker sore on the tip of my tongue. although an extremely unfortunate place to get a canker sore, i would like to not talk or eat for the rest of the day please, it should not have been the destroyer of this sunny day that wanted to be good so badly. i however, would not let it. it seemed as if every little thing went wrong multiplying into one large miserable clump of a sad day. camden also had one of these days. he is inside making brownies determined it has not all gone to “crap”. i admire this quality he seems to have, one where he is determined that every day cannot and will not be wasted by self pity, and if not much, some good had to come of it all. i guess i am trying to call to the gods of patients and kindness by enjoying this beautiful night that has presented itself in the form of a sweet scent carried by the soft breeze. if this ideologic notion of how a bad day should end does not work i think a tylenol p.m. and a early night to bed should suffice. for now i am off to try and somehow muster the courage to eat a warm brownie that is sure to make my mouth beg for mercy that much more, but it’s not every day your husband makes brownies.

kramer & the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad doggy day

Miscellaneous

when i woke up and whined ever so loud to tell them “i’m ready to start my day”, nobody got me from my bed for a whole half hour. i saw him and her put their pillows on their heads, and i knew it was to be a no good, mostly terrible, very boring day. i pulled out all of my toys because i knew it was time to play, only for them to be put all back away! it was going to be a very very bad day, maybe i’ll move in with my doggy friend lola. i heard the water running in the bathroom and ran to see what all the commotion was about, when before i knew it two large hands grabbed me and put me in that sudsy tub of water, rats! i knew it was to be a very terrible, very boring, and very long long day. when i went looking for her and found her on the computer i begged and begged for belly rubs using my best roll-y poll-y moves only for my tummy to be very disappointed. it was then i knew, i was having the worst of all bad, terribly sad, mopey doggy days. when he was supposed to be home and wasn’t i waited like a very good boy for probably hours until he finally came a two whole hours later than usual. i knew nothing good was to happen, and i was having the saddest of all doggy days. when i went to play with my best toy squirrel, i found someone had gone and hidden my best squirrel acorns. not my very best nutty squirrel toy nuts! now what am i supposed to do? i knew i was having a very bad, very sad, lonely, nut-less, doggy day. just when i was about to give up all hope, to make the long walk slowly and sadly, with my tail between my legs, and my head hung low to go live with lola, i heard the jingle of my collar and the rustle of my leash. what is this? could it be? it was! a trip to the park with my new frisbee. the air was cool, the grass was long, and my frisbee fast, i knew my day hadn’t turned out so bad after all. i guess lola will have to wait.

:: & your day will be better when :: – no, more like –
:: & yes, it has been “one of those days” ::  or more appropriately –
:: & a few random thoughts in my day ::
*i am not usually a fan of coconut water but, mango peach coconut water is surprisingly tasty.
*watching: ‘fun with dick and jane’ is the perfect cure for a day started bad.
*piano playing does not make u.p.s. come any faster.
*dress shopping is more fun with your husband when he picks out the dress.
*a couple scoops of haagen-dazs butter pecan ice cream topped with ice cold root-beer makes the world’s best rootbeer float, only if eaten in your mug.
*apparently i am obsessed with naked.
*i don’t care what anyone says, 85 degree weather is way too hot.
*fish tacos are better when eaten at sunset with a lime-infused mango jarritos.
*frisbees are more fun after they have been broken in with a bit of peanut butter.
*& of course, happy mother’s day to all our beautiful moms.

ever since i can remember i have loved hair. long hair, short hair, i love it all. when i was going through cosmetology school at paul mitchell i tried so very many different hair styles. when i first started, i had shoulder length hair and by the second month my hair was as short as camden’s. i have had pink, orange, blue, red, and almost every color in-between somewhere on my head at one point or another. in the years post graduation, i have eased it down a bit and gone for a much more natural approach to my now long locks. however, i am always finding new hair styles that i want to try and experiment with.
when i was young, i used to play “beauty shop” with my sisters. we would line the hallways with different shampoos and bowls full of warm water. we had a few shampoos that were “off limits” to us kids, but for some reason i always wanted to just try them, just a little. one of these was aveda red shampoo and conditioner. i decided during one of our hair styling adventures to wash my extremely fine, blonde haired, little sister with this particular shampoo. “you will look just like madeline”, i said. after leaving that red conditioner in her hair for about ten minutes i was startled with just how red her hair actually was. i blew her hair dry, all nice and pretty and somehow got the courage to go show the parents, who were unaware of our little adventure upstairs, just how extraordinary (in a “they left the house at half past nine in two straight lines” sort of way) she looked. i for some reason thought they would be pleased with her newly brightened hair, that they probably had always wanted a kid with red fluff anyway. well needless to say they were slightly horrified and her hair stayed that color for over a week thanks to my curiously terrifying “mad skills”.
here are a few more photos of lovely hair styles to add to my hair love list. some i have tried and some if i ever find some braveness buried deep down inside, i might muster up the courage to try.

1| i love black painted walls with bright frames that pop off them. 2| this little side table is so mid-century and love it in that teal color. 3| i am obsessed with office supplies especially ones that inspire me like these little gold paper pins. 4| i’m loving this miniature credenza, it makes me want to get a record player to put inside. 5| this sweet little vanity is lovely and would be perfect for a small home. 6| love this small side table and its vintage/modern elements combined for an eclectic feel. 7&8| dressing up an old dresser or side table or even kitchen cabinets with overly fun and funky knobs can really give new life to tired fronts. 9| i like that this kitchen still looks beautiful without being overly fancy or new. it’s the perfect mix of new and old. 10| rustic pieces mixed with modern ones are one of my favorite looks. i also love the white color palette with pops of bright color in the accessories. it really gives the room a clean feeling. – click here to see last weeks mood board.
