Miscellaneous

although mine and camden’s marriage is very good, just like everything else it is not perfect and takes a bit of work. we had been fighting a bit this week, mostly about money and bills and communicating (meaning listening. .), it was driving both of us a bit crazy. we seem too often have our fights at night, when we are both extremely tired and irritable. this however, works out in camden’s favor seeing as he can go to sleep mad just like that. boom, he closes his eyes and he is out. i on the other hand, will toss and turn all night letting my rage keep me from sleeping.
it doesn’t take much to keep me awake. i have always had trouble sleeping and find it irritating when others seem to fall into that sweet slumber so quickly. it is hard for me to turn my mind off at night, i can’t stop making to-do lists and scenarios and thinking of ideas. i’m always asking myself why i can’t have this sort of brain activity when i am trying to get things done during the day. that is just how it works i guess.
that night, laying in my rage, listening to the soft snoring of camden and kramer, everything seeming so much worse than it was i thought to myself ‘ok, fine! we will see about that, you don’t want to talk now so you have gone to sleep. well tomorrow when you call me wanting to talk maybe i just wont answer the phone.’ silly i know. well the next day came and of course, i answered the phone. i was tired of being mad and camden was too. we talked and both apologized for our dramatic behavior and moved on thinking that was that.
i got home that afternoon around the same time i always do, said hello to an excited kramer, put my hair in a pony, grabbed a cup of v8 juice and slumped down, tired from a long day with a previous night of not much sleep. a few minutes later the jolting of the front door handle startled both kramer and i seeing as we were not expecting camden home for a few hours or so. in walked camden, his motorcycle jacket in one hand and a pretty little silver box topped with a bow in the other. i started thinking great, whose party/birthday have i forgotten, and asked “hey who is the present for?” camden said matter of fact with a face like, really sara? “you of course”. i opened that sweet little present to find “that” watch that i had been wanting for some time. so he had been listening all this time after all. thank you camden i love the new watch, it’s perfect!

also that night, it was about time we washed kramer. we have been on so many walks lately since it has been warming up, that he was getting a bit unrecognizable. we took our walk a bit later than usual so we were a bit tired when it came to bath time. although kramer hates taking baths, he likes snuggling with camden in his towel afterwards. i took these pictures as they were both trying to stay awake very late at night.
happy weekend everyone, check back in later today for april’s last giveaway!

Miscellaneous

if i were a single girl looking for love in new york city, and often said things like: “as we speed along this endless road to the destination called who we hope to be, i can’t help but whine, ‘are we there yet?'” and “when it comes to life and love, why do we believe our worst reviews?”, then this might be what my apartment would look like. just saying.

Miscellaneous

Hello Chalk White lovelies! I am so thrilled to be visiting today. My name is Sarah and I am the keeper of Joyfully Gray:  a little lifestyle blog about my days as a wife, mama, teacher, style scout, thrifter, reader & more. One of my favorite aspects of blogging is that it gives me the opportunity to capture details of my life that I might otherwise take for granted. I love finding significance in a warm cup of coffee or even the fine calligraphy stroke of a pen. Recording my days and our home inspires me to count my blessings and find magic in the small things.
Today I would like to share some pieces of these things that I find so lovely .. tid-bits of our life and our home. It is not these things in our home that bring me such happiness, but it is the stories behind our things and the memories kept in the room where we most often hang out together — where we sit listening to our mountains of vinyl, dancing on the sofa cushions, reading books, and banging on my great-grandmother’s piano. All of these moments are what make our our family what it is. We would love for you to come by for a visit sometime, just click here!
Enjoy these polaroid bits and thank you for having me today.
xoxo, Sarah Gray

motoring through the city

Miscellaneous

saturday we went on a ride into the city. it was so warm and pleasant, you could smell the orange blossoms and fresh cut grass which is always my favorite part about spring. we had gotten a bit of a late start since camden has been working a bit later than usual. our plan was to go get some dinner, then walk around through some shops and just enjoy ourselves. by the time we sat down to eat, it was almost nine which isn’t that rare lately but it didn’t seem to bother me this time like it sometimes does. tonight seemed different than usual. there was a sense of calm in the air that whispered “relax, everything will be ok”. since it was the warmest day we had seen yet we decided to sit outside to eat which always makes me feel like i am on vacation. it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time either after a harder than normal week. it had just been one of those weeks that nothing would seem to go right, mostly because my brain must have had an aneurism of some sort. nevertheless, just being able to sit there and relax and think of nothing but the sweet smell and warmth flowing in the air was just what this lady needed. after dinner was through, it suddenly donned on us that stores usually close at nine and since we had sat down to dinner at just about that time we weren’t going to have much luck with our previous plan. neither of us ready to yet make the ride home, we decided to still head over towards some shops anyway and just look around. it was surprisingly nice and quiet with no noise of bustling people. we walked around and looked at all of the window displays and light covered trees imagining that we were walking through the shops making jokes about what we would be doing or saying. i had never been window shopping before, but have to say surprisingly, i thoroughly enjoyed it. although our night had not gone exactly according to plan it was still one of the most enjoyable nights we spent together in some time. i was able to snap some pictures while on our ride and just love how the city looked in movement.
when we got back home, cam and i spent hours talking, which i have missed a bit lately. we didn’t talk about bills or anything of that nature which was a nice change of pace for me. we stayed up much later then usual watching the king of queens late into the night. i always forget how funny that show really is. kramer got a bit fed up with us however and decided it was much past his bedtime. it is funny sometimes to watch him try and stay up with us, fighting so hard to keep his eyes opened just because our eyes are. sometimes i think there must be a little person living in that little guy, he couldn’t just be a dog with all the stuff he tries to comprehend and silly human-like traits he has. well, saturday came and went and couldn’t have lasted long enough, but i am grateful for its “happy power” it seemed to have over us and especially me and hopefully was a sign of a much better week to come.
hope all of your weekends were mighty fabulous and don’t hesitate to share any fun experiences with me. i love to read all of your fun stories!
