i have been dying to get to the local farmers market for weeks now .. really i’ve been looking forward to it since we moved back in fall making it so close to our home and much easier to get to. somehow, despite all this, saturdays have flown by with an always conflicting schedule, providing no fix for my summer farmers market crave. yesterday however, i finally made it, taking my extremely cute and ever-so-sweet sister kate along with me. she, unlike me, had already made it down this year and was able to guide the two of us to all the must see, must try, and and must buy booths throughout … as is to say, only the very best booths got our full attention. it was a beautiful day, slightly overcast so it wasn’t too hot, and not to crowded because of the rain threat that didn’t happen because, well, it hardly ever does … it was one of those really great days that you wish you could somehow have again, like putting your very favorite song on repeat because you love it just that much …

the twenty fourth day in july is celebrated here in utah somewhat like the fourth. mostly, we were just excited because it meant we both had the day off of work, which for us is reason enough for a celebration alone, holiday or not. because we were in england for the fourth of july, we decided to walk two miles each way (kramer included) down to see the fireworks at the park. however, we were a bit disappointed by their efforts this year and sort of ended up ditching out early. we did do a few of our own sparklers though, which i think are the prettiest anyway, and if it wasn’t obvious enough, we took so many pictures i had the hardest time narrowing them down … so here is to sparklers … a lot of them.

last night, camden and i went to our first drive in together as a married couple. sure, both of us had been plenty of times growing up but never yet together. this being the case, we both had very different ideas about how to properly see a movie when one is watching the movie from ones car. growing up as a kid, we would always fold down all the seats, pile all the blankets that would fit in the back of our land-cruiser, and make the biggest and comfiest of all backseat beds. camden and his family however, would pull into the theater with the front of their car facing the movie screen and just watch the movie from their seats. i was one hundred percent convinced that my way was the only way so that is what we tried, the whole bed in the back of the car thing, all the while forgetting the fact that our car is about one-tenth the size of the car we had growing up. after much stubbornness on my side, i reluctantly gave in and we watched the movie from the front seats. we have definite plans to go again, but next time we’re borrowing a bigger car and that’s just that.

as this is the last and final post of our trip to england, i felt it only fitting to share with you just a few things that we wish could have returned home with us as well as a few of the things that we will miss most: first off … the word cheers. we love that everyone ends their conversations or even will say just in passing, “cheers”.  we will also miss: the hospitality, the architecture, the history, the weather, the tea rooms – oh, the tea rooms – the miles and miles of green in every direction, the many fields filled with bright neon yellow, all the little cars, and of course the breathtaking gardens. also, i wanted to thank my dad for letting us tag along … we had the best of times!

p.s. these photos are from our final day in york at castle howard.

how about a little weekend brunch because let’s be honest, it’s been a very long time since we’ve had any weekend brunch worthy of note. also, as long as we are being honest we actually had more of a brunch for dinner today than an actual brunch. we were out with friends late last night, until around three in the morning actually, and ended up sleeping until eleven a.m. when kramer finally decided it was time for us all to get up. we spent the entire day in our pajamas in between sleep and awake and had pizza during actual brunch time. i finally got around to making scones this evening around seven o’clock and we ended up eating them for dinner. i made orange poppyseed scones and they were seriously good, took me back to england they did. we devoured them while they were still warm with a bit of butter and strawberry jam smothered in their middles. i found this recipe here, definitely a scone worth making.
