so . . . trader joe’s was a huge success and we made our weekend brunch out of some of the things we bought. we also got the most gorgeous flowers while we were there. i’m a sucker for pretty flowers and for under five bucks they were a steal. camden made his world famous french toast. what makes it famous you ask? “it’s a secret” he says, although he is always teasing me with special ingredients that make it so good. “you just need to add a bit of love” he’ll say, or “after i flip them, i just give’m a good o’l smack”.  i’m not really sure what he does, but whatever it is. . . it’s working. during our brunch we watched a few episodes of i love lucy, which i’m convinced is the best weekend brunch show combo. seriously the best! trader joe’s stole our heart and provided us with one of the best brunches we’ve had in weeks. yeah . . . we’ll be back.

i love this do-it-yourself project for valentines. it is so simple and cost me nothing because i only used things i had laying around the house. plus it took me under an hour to complete from start to finish. i usually don’t decorate much for valentines but these newspaper hearts are too perfect for the season to not.

^^ *i cut my newspaper into about 5’x5′ squares sixteen times to make sixteen origami hearts. ^^

after camden and i made the decision to move to our current place, one big concern started to arise which was, “where is all of our stuff going to go?!?”. this new found dilemma was seriously causing us major stress. i, in particular, could not see how we could possibly make our lives fit into this teeny, tiny, 1920’s, pre-war apartment. we finally decided about fifty percent of our things had to go. we got rid of two dressers, a bed frame, a couch, our dining tables and chairs, our bookshelves, about half of our clothing, plus more; all because they were too big to fit into the confined space of our new home. even after all this purging, we were still worried how exactly it was all going to fit. our new place only had one small closet in the bedroom (about one tenth the size of our previous closet) for clothing and one other pantry in the main room. after much brainstorming, i finally decided to curtain off a section of our dining room (originally advertised as a bedroom) in order to create a custom storage space. the thing was, i didn’t want it to look like storage. i wanted it to be all tucked away, neat and out of sight, unaware it was even there. our dining room, originally advertised as the second bedroom, was awkwardly shaped and curtaining the room off to form a square made a future layout easier to see. covering up a window was a small price to pay considering the rooms small size and open access to the rest of the house where light openly flows. we now have room for all that crud we don’t necessarily wan’t to see with easy access when its use is needed. honestly without this, i don’t know how we would be living here today.

friday night camden and i had a date night out to the movies, just him and i alone together. we went to see zero dark thirty which we both rather liked. however, the part we both always look forward to most is getting a big ol’ tub of kettle-popped-corn. neither of us are big butter popcorn fans, that is unless it is sprinkled with hot tamales candies, which let me tell you is seriously good. camden, my friends, is one serious kettle popcorn eater. he can down a whole tub by the time we are five minutes into the movie sometimes by the time the ads are over! we usually however, wait until after the movie is out to get our free refill. this way we can take our second tub home to snack on during the week. a pretty unhealthy habit i know, but it makes movie nights that much more fun.

not nearly as elaborate as last week nor homemade but delicious nonetheless. kramer didn’t mind the downgrade either. in fact, he didn’t mind so much he ended up in timeout halfway through our meal because he tried to steal a half eaten piece of bagel off the table when nobody was looking. naughty krames.
