this week has been more hectic than most. we have all had more to do, more to get done, and the almost three feet of snow the weather dumped on our door step hasn’t helped things move any quicker. during this time, our house has turned into somewhat of a mess; a genuine pigsty. things are everywhere, dishes are towering a few feet high and kramer has spent his time destroying his toys then sprinkling the remaining fluff around the house in order to show us his top notch job. you can probably guess how the rest of this weekend will be spent, with a pair of yellow rubber gloves and a vacuum in hand. oh joy.

7^ wrapping  and wrapping lights in beautiful yarn. i love these colors.  6^ folding kiddies clothes at work.  5^ i always eat my cereal in a cup, especially cap’n crunch. love the cap’n.  4^ a sulking kramer because he ran out of his favorite doggy treats.  3^ this has saved my lips from completely falling off this winter. try it.  2^ a beautiful 1970’s woven wall hanging.  1^ polka dots for cheer and a hat to cover up my dirty hair i couldn’t wash because our hot water wasn’t working most likely do to the freezing cold.

what i wore when . . . it was a measly six degrees outside. it has been unbearably cold around here lately. the kind of cold that makes your radiators have a hard time keeping up and need a little help from a space heater. the kind of cold that makes warm sweaters seem like t-shirts and hearty boots seem like sandals. the kind of cold that makes the thick smog that has set in over the valley, covering it in a white haze, turn into snow in the middle of the day while the sun is out. the kind of cold that makes your lips and skin turn wrinkly and red when outside. the kind of cold that gives you goose bumps just thinking about it. the kind of cold that makes even the most adventurous of dogs like kramer reconsider the idea of a walk. and the kind of cold that makes a high of 32 seem positively lovely. yes my friends, it has been cold. . . much much too cold.

you are looking at our first sunday brunch at home. sure, we may have gone a little bit overboard but the method to my madness (as it usually is) was “go big or go home”. plus, you just happen to be looking at all the things i’ve been craving constantly for the past few weeks and pretty much all of what my diet has consisted of in that time, besides of course the occasional mcdonald’s apple pie and fries. plus would you believe that all these things cost a bit less than brunch for two out and about at a restaurant?  and even better, we have plenty of leftovers so we will be snacking on this all day. yay for sundays!

in the words of holly golightly: “you know those day when you get the mean reds? …well, when i get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to tiffany’s. calms me down right away. the quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. if i could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then i’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!”.  – if you follow me on instagram then you probably already know that camden got in a pretty gnarly accident yesterday. luckily and miraculously no one was injured more than a few scratches and bruises. camden’s car is probably totaled and broken beyond repair. i guess you could say yesterday was one of those days you want to find a hole to bury your head in. one of those days you just want to go back to sleep and wake up when it’s all over. one of those days where you are afraid to ask “could this day get any worse?”.  the day was bad and that was that.

but then again, there are a few positives to look at here; no one was seriously hurt in this car accident. if you were to see the pictures of all three cars and their mangled parts, you might think differently. furthermore, the accident wasn’t actually camden’s fault and we all know that this is always a plus especially considering the condition of camden’s car, brutally smashed and quickly murdered. all the driver’s had insurance so besides the headache of the constant phone calls to and from grumpy insurers, there isn’t too much to worry about here. also, it isn’t as if we are really put out much having only one car. it had really been our plan all along to get rid of a car and just have one anyway. we decided we should be feeling pretty good. after all, we had a lot to be thankful for and tomorrow was a fresh day filled with much hope to be better. and it was better. much better.
