cross it off the list!

we had such a nice weekend. not overly busy or filled with things to do, but relaxing and pleasant. today we decided to notch one off the autumn to do list and ride our bikes down the road for some lunch. the weather was perfect and the sun was out making it not overly nippy at all. it has been raining the past few days so it was nice to see a bit of sun. i always love the rain though. it was a perfect weekend for busting out a pumpkin candle, which i totally did. (another one crossed off the list!) there is something about the smell of pumpkin filling the house while the soft rain drizzles down the windows that really gets me in the mood for fall. we are going to finish off our weekend before the work week starts with a little movie night, moonrise kingdom. very, very excited to finally watch it. so let me now apologize for this short little post as we are off to hit up the grocery store for some much needed sweets and settle down on the couch for a bit of family time and snuggles during our movie night. hope all your weekends were good! xoxo

*we watched it and loved it! – and i mean loved it. a definite “own it” not “rent it”.

moving this time around has been an adventure to say the least. sadly, at this point, this room is the closest to being complete even though it still has a far way to come before being finished. it is about half the size of our old bedroom and only has one teeny tiny closet, just big enough for camden’s things. i have all my clothes in the one dresser that fits in the bedroom and on a hanging clothes rack we purchased for this house. we have gone down from two bedside tables to one, it has definitely been an adjustment. however this little room does have it’s cozy aspects and has plenty of widows which gives the space the illusion of being larger than it is. we have gotten most of the boxes unpacked, now we’re moving on to the decorating part, hanging things on the walls and figuring out the placement of stuff, which for me is always the fun part anyway. can i just say, i’m loving our white walls . . . more soon!

nine things in autumn we have yet to do
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
~ picking pumpkins at a pumpkin patch (say that ten times fast)
~ putting out the halloween decor
~ drinking hot cider with glazed donuts
~ watching breakfast at tiffany’s “poor cat. poor slob. poor slob without a name.”
~ leaf raking
~ autumn bike ride
~ pumpkin carving
~ getting lost in a corn maze
~ lighting a pumpkin candle (target always has the best)

i have given us a deadline of halloween to complete all of these cool weathered rituals, so it looks like we better get our butts in gear. we are a bit behind on our autumn festivities due to our move but do them we must. what are your autumn traditions? i just love adding new ones to our list. feel free to link your lists below or add some of ours to yours. let the festivities begin!

(let me just apologize in advanced for the many photos of food and the over-excited mood towards food in this post. i guess you could say i have food on the mind.)
could there have been a worse weekend to catch the stomach flu? i was seriously hoping to make major headway on putting together our house but instead i laid all day in bed, a whole 24 hours, trying to keep anything and everything down. gosh darn stomach flu. the only thing, and i mean only thing good about the stomach flu is experiencing food for what feels like the first time the next day. oh glorious, succulent, delicious food. there is something about being sick that really makes you appreciate being healthy. i made camden run to whole foods this morning, because as i have so recently discovered, their bakery section is to die for. i have also very recently realized that whenever i have the stomach flu i oddly always crave chili, although, as camden so graciously pointed out to me today, just about every day i crave something different regardless of being sick or not, he can hardly keep up. so tonight we had some of the best chili from, yep, whole foods and check out those grapes. those are some serious grapes.

camden dragged me out of the house today for a sunday drive to see the falling leaves up the canyon and just get out for a bit. we came across the coolest tepee on a little, hidden, windy road. one of the highlights of my day, well let’s be honest, my weekend really.

i’m happy to report that i’m starting to feel much better and after a full nights rest i should be back to normal. so i bid you all a wonderful night as i hope all your weekends were a bit more exciting than mine. xoxo

sometimes when i’m redoing or uplifting a house, i find myself needing to get the job done inexpensively, yet i don’t want the design elements to look cheap or dinky. this is exactly the situation i find myself in now with our current home. i find anytime we move to a new floor plan with new quirks and wall spaces, the same decor doesn’t necessarily fit the same way as it did in the old place, plus it’s always fun to add some new elements to freshen things up or give a bland wall new life. this brings me to etsy. etsy is sort of my go to place when i need something beautiful and unique but can only spend some spare change. this isn’t to say there aren’t any expensive items awaiting your pocketbooks if you are willing, but more what is so great about etsy, the number of things for sale ranging from expensive to almost free. i’m always bewildered at the plethora of choices to choose from and the sheer number of talented people alone selling their creations or vintage finds. long story short, below are just a few of my favorite, generally inexpensive, beautiful purchases, made for our new home, from four wonderfully different stores on etsy.triangleDSC_0375-2-5preserved craspedia flowers  // $18.00 // flores de sol
