Miscellaneous

 only kramer’s family knows . .
he makes silly faces when he’s tired,
and he watches t.v. looking for dogs to bark at.
if you were kramer’s family you would know
he mostly likes belly rubs, and belly rubs, and more belly rubs,
and you’d know the only thing he likes more than his walks are his bones.
if you were kramer’s family you would know . . .
he likes to stare up at things that sparkle or things that look like toys
and you’d know he likes to smell your face before he licks it.
you’d know he likes long walks in the park at sunset, because only kramer’s family knows,
kramer is a hopeless romantic.
if you were kramer’s family you would know
his favorite place to sleep is our bed
and his favorite place to hide is his bed
you’d know his favorite toy is the blue furry ball that squeaks
and you’d know kramer absolutely does not like his doggy food multi-colored.
if you were kramer’s family you would know kramer only eats the brown doggy food pieces
because doggy food is naturally brown anyway.

if you were kramer’s family you would know . . .
he loves to pose for cameras.
you’d know every time he hears the click of the camera
he comes front and center and does his best doggy pose.
you’d know socks don’t belong on your feet but in kramer’s bed
and you’d know he hates noises that come out of your mouth resembling ducks.
you’d know no matter what,
he will always come to the word cheerio.
if you were kramer’s family you would know . . .
he likes to sleep on the left side of the bed by the pillow
and he likes white fluffy things that resemble him to snuggle with.
you’d know better than to take his toys
because he knows he won’t stop looking until they’re found.
you’d know he like to race and he always wins
and you’d know after he wins he smiles.
you’d know his record bone eating time was two minutes and twenty three seconds.
if you were kramer’s family you would know that.
if you were kramer’s family you would know . . .
nodding his head at the ducks is his language for ‘come here, i want to play!’
and you’d know he has had swimming 101, 102, 103, and 104 but still doesn’t care for water much.
you’d know his favorite word is walk.
and you’d know his least favorite word is uh-oh.
and kramer’s family would absolutely know . . .
not to wake him when he is very tired.
because only they would know this would make kramer very grumpy
and you might even get the classic kramer stink eye
but only if you were lucky.

sometimes i wonder how the clouds know to come out at four o’clock on the dot. for the last few weeks or so that is what has happened. every day at just about four o’clock the clouds drift over the blue sky and it starts to look like a big old thunder storm is rolling in. it gets my hopes up you know, thinking the biggest, baddest thunder storm could be happening at any moment. however there isn’t even the slightest rumble of clashing clouds or flashing lightening, i guess after last year nothing can compare to that crazy, all-time, best, slightly scary, thunder storm that took place.
it was a day just like any other. we had only lived in this apartment for a few months and it had been rainy a lot of the spring and summer. camden had gotten home from work and decided he would get kramer out of the house and go pick up some dinner while i finished up a project at home.
let me just pause for a minute to tell you this one thing i love about camden. no matter how long of a day he has had or how grumpy he may or (according to him) may not be, he will always come home and offer to pick up dinner, be willing to get kramer out of the house, and even eat where i want instead of where he would prefer. sometimes i forget how awesome he is, truly awesome.
while camden was getting ready to leave we could hear the scattered thunder bursts, one close then one far, and the random shock of lightening lighting up the dimly lit house. as they were leaving, i turned off the t.v. and opened a window a crack to better hear the thunder. i wanted to be excited, to pretend the the storm was worse than it was. suddenly the flashes of lightening started to get more frequent, and the thunder really loud. as i went to close the window (i had enough excitement for one thunder storm at that point), i heard the soft whine of sirens in the distance. i wondered if somebody’s house had been struck as you could hear the crackle of the lightening in the sky. i walked back over to the couch and turned the t.v. back on to see if there were any weather warnings, the weather isn’t officially scary until you get a weather warning after all. about five seconds after i turned that t.v. on, the biggest thunder i ever heard shook the house and all of the sudden, all the lights flickered, the t.v. flashed off and on, a big flash of light appeared in the fireplace, and sparks came out of an electrical socket. i was shocked, i wasn’t sure exactly what to do. i immediately called camden and when he answered all i could say was “you missed it! . . .  i think our house just got struck by lightening!”
you could see how my expectations for an exciting thunder storm could be pretty high. i’m not sure anything will ever be able to top that one, not that i would want it to (knock on wood).

a big two inches

Miscellaneous

i’ve been growing my hair out for some time now, since it was pixie short which was almost five years ago. for the past six or so months it has become aware to me that my ends were quickly dying and this newfound length may be short lived. i had tried everything to keep them from needing to be cut but it seemed the more things i tried the worse they got. it got to the point where i started feeling upset that i might have to trim them. i didn’t know what was making me feel this way, it was just hair after all and two inches at that. it wasn’t like i was being asked to shave my head and even if i was, weren’t there more important things in life?
finally having enough with my attitude towards my hair, i knew what i had to do. the thing is, i was sick of caring so much about something so silly when there are so many other things around me and in this world worth caring about. i felt i was being vain and preoccupied by something that should mean nothing, not everything. so saturday i made myself an appointment for a hair cut and had those two inches cut off without even thinking twice. surprisingly after it was all said and done i felt relieved to have them gone. i didn’t have to think about them anymore and that felt good, real good. the best part of all is that hair grows back, shocker i know, but a few months down the line those inches will be back healthy and strong. – and yes i just dedicated a whole post to the every day trim. happy monday!

Miscellaneous

after about fifteen minutes of thinking about jumping, she realized another day might be better. how i could relate the daily swim lessons to everyday life. . . but perhaps another day.
i was surprised to see these shoes so quickly awaiting at the front door. they are my favorite new old shoes.
sometimes a bubble bath is the perfect and only fix to a grumpy attitude and a stressful day.
being that camden has to work late more nights than not, it can seem a rare occasion that we get to eat dinner together. i think this makes me enjoy our time spent around the table that much more. the photo above was taken right after our dinner out last night, happy and full.
– have a happy weekend.

i am always discovering new things to drool over and these are just a few my current finds. oh my heart just melts for those mary janes, they are so fun, and you all know my complete and overwhelming obsession with rugs. thankfully for camden, if someone hadn’t already bought that beauty, i might have splurged. i’m still secretly daydreaming of it in our house though.
